Type ‘Brighton’ into any search engine you’ll find a good spattering of the words: vibrant, alternative, cosmopolitan, fun-loving, diverse, inclusive, bohemian. You won’t find the words: Immigration detention, imprisonment, or hostile environment.

Brighton is the city everybody wants to come to. It’s reported to be the ‘hippest city in the UK’, where being different is celebrated. But sometimes we need to look at little deeper.

Just 5 miles away stands Lewes prison, where men aren’t always released at the end of their sentence, but can be held indefinitely under immigration detention.

How many of us know this is happening?

I hope that, by creating these images, a few more people will know, and that some of those people will want to act.
