Meet the Artists

We would like to thank Bryony Good for bringing together our Documentary Photography class at Free University Brighton. She helped us to think about the meaning and purpose in our photography, but most importantly, about the choices we make when when representing people and places. You won't see any of Bryony's work in our exhibition, but she is still a very important part of it.

“Reality” is “more like a freewheelinggame-play than a truthseekinglogical analysis.” Ourtruth “is rooted in our ownsubjective experiences and in ourown here and now”

I am drawn to creative and visual pursuits and like to photograph ordinary things. I recognise that everything has been designed and created, and has a history and a meaning beyond that which we would ordinarily notice.

When I see injustice or inequality I want to challenge it: No matter where I start with a photography project, that seems to be where I end up.

In one week I discovered the work of Peter Kennard and learnt that people were being held in indefinite immigration detention in Lewes Prison.

My part of this exibition is the joining of these two thought processes.

Vicky enjoys exploring Brighton & Hove. She is interested in capturing the city in its daily routines, and recording its smaller, 'domestic' landmarks and stories. She is rarely without a notebook.
